Preparing for the RCSI General Nurse Aptitude Test? Build a structured study routine and practise applying your knowledge to clinical situations.
Mental health nurses and midwives are welcome to enquire about appropriate preparation support. Your NMBI decision letter and registration division determine your pathway; this general nursing programme may not match your assessment.
Support internationally educated staff preparing for registration. Talk to us about their learning needs, clinical confidence and the preparation pathway that is right for them.
Move from reading about clinical care to explaining your decisions, organising your approach and practising with purpose. You do not have to prepare alone.
Four weekly class blocks with tutors, guided discussion and space to ask questions.
Preparation links grouped by class block, so you can focus your study before each session. The notes will be available in the class.
Work on clear explanations, patient centred communication and the reasoning behind your care.
Original practice scenarios help you rehearse a structured approach under time pressure.
Reflect on your progress, identify what feels difficult and discuss where you need more support.
Bring your preparation together in a practical setting with feedback. Booking follows completion of all four class blocks.
Do not just study. Practise like it is the real exam.
Understand the test, the marking and how the academy works.
Eight key highlights to read in your first week.
Four blocks covering all 14 stations with live tutors.
Timed practice and focused review of the areas you want to strengthen.
A full practical in Dublin with feedback.
Up to 8 weeks of access, and you can finish sooner.
The practical OSCE assesses how you apply nursing knowledge in simulated clinical situations. Across 14 stations, each lasting 10 minutes, you need to read the descriptor carefully, communicate clearly and demonstrate safe care.
Our preparation focuses on understanding your approach rather than memorising a script or expecting a particular exam scenario. Detailed station learning is inside the programme.
Check RCSI directly for current dates and requirements.
The next mock practical date will be announced soon.

Invest in preparation. Support your people.
Have you recruited internationally educated nurses, or are you helping staff prepare for registration? Let’s discuss how OSCE Ready could support their preparation alongside your existing induction and clinical support.
For employers, recruiters and public or private healthcare organisations. Preparation support does not guarantee an exam result or registration.
